After nine long months, and just a little bit of labor (just a little) your baby is born! And did you know your baby’s teeth start to grow when they are in their mother’s tummy ? Yes, although you don’t see it right away, it is there. It is just hiding underneath ALL that GUM! As parents we’d want to make sure when our baby’s teeth start to come up, they brush. But as a warm-up to get your child used to brushing his/her teeth, you can use a warm towel and gently massage your baby’s gums. That way your baby will get used to having something in their mouth, and when you attempt to teach them to brush their teeth the tickling sensation will not be a big surprised to them. Or you can purchase the infant brush, it is really easy to use and looks like this: Siimply put it on your finger and massage away!
Below are some fun songs to sing-a-long whether you are massaging your infants gums, or just teaching your baby to brush:
(to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”)
Here’s my toothpaste
Here’s my brush
I won’t hurry, I won’t rush.
Working hard to keep teeth clean
Front and back and in between
When I brush for quite a while
I will have a happy smile.
The Toothbrush Song
(to the tune of “Row,Row, Row Your Boat”)
Brush, brush, brush your teeth
Brush them everyday.
We put toothpaste on our brush
To help stop tooth decay.
Floss, floss, floss your teeth.
Floss them every day!
Using the string to clean between
Keeps the plaque away!
Clean, clean, clean your teeth.
Clean them every day!
Your teeth will sparkle for years to come
In the most beautiful way!
Brush, brush, brush your teeth.
Brush them every day!
Happy, healthy teeth you’ll have
If it’s done this way.
Brushing my Teeth
Up and down and round and round
I brush my teeth to keep them sound;
To keep them sound and clean and white
I brush them morning, noon and night.
We hope both you and your baby have fun while brushing! Smile and be proud of your pearly whites!
